Peter Buhr, has recorded again with his American friends. These musicians and their innovative blend of instruments highlight Peter's creative playing and make "A Smooth One" a delightful swinging CD. This CD showcases peter playing in a combo setting allowing him a different approach than recordings with his big band. |

Fanning's vibes and DiBianca's accordion and bass lines add harmonious support and distinct solos. Calitro's drumming provides a firm rhythmic drive while his vocals give the group an added dimension. Recorded after their successful 2004 Germany tour, this recording proves the group is here to stay. They will be returning to Germany in 2006 and plan to increase the number of concerts and tour other countries as well. When Peter is In the States they are very much in demand and frequently play concerts & provide dancing and listening music for various functions. |

It's hard to pick a favorite from these 13 well-played tunes. I like "Robbins Nest" for its jazzy swing, the soulful soprano sax on "Indian Summer," the accordion tonalities and exchanges on "Honeysuckle Rose" and drive of the vibes on "Avalon." I love the instrumentation - the glorious tones and inventiveness of Peter's clarinet or soprano sax, rich backing by accordion and its left hand MIDI bass, the swinging feel of vibes and tasteful brushwork on drums that propels but doesn’t overwhelm other players. The group deserves to be heard live and should win many fans. A new sound is born on this CD, and I look forward to their reunion and performances this fall. Four like minded players make "Sarasota Swing," a delightful CD of easy swinging music for fans to enjoy. It's in my stack of "play often" CDs, and I hear new nuances of their collaboration each time I listen. The feeling is mellow and the players creative on classic swing and Dixieland tunes. This CD showcases Peter in an empathetic combo setting. Fanning's vibes and DiBianca's accordion add harmonious support and fine solo efforts. Moran`s brushes provide a subtle, firm rhythmic drive. |
